Commuting in Melbourne -

If you are in Melbourne and interested in using Public transport, then you must get your MYKI card. This card is a ticket for all three modes of transportation - Bus, Train and Tram.

If you are in Melbourne and interested in using Public transport, then you must get your MYKI card. This card is a ticket for all three modes of transportation – Bus, Train and Tram.

You may buy your OPAL or MYKI from a 7/11 shop (a departmental store chain) or from the station counter inside station. Never forget to touch on when you are going to board the train and touch off after you finished your journey and coming out of the station.

If you are a student, ask for a concession card as you will be charged half fare for commuting being a student.

Once you bought the card for AUD 6 for full fare card ( 6 Australian Dollars), ask the guy to recharge it for some money. Initially you can go for 20 bucks (20 AUD). Show your student ID to get it in $3.

Common questions about transportation and MyKi

1. As a postgraduate student ,will I be eligible to get concession on myki card ?
Postgraduate and part-time students aren’t eligible for concession fares. However you may be eligible for a Concession myki if you have a Health Care Card or another concession entitlement.

Commuting in Sydney-

If you are coming in Sydney, the ticket card is called OPAL. However, recently Sydney transport department has started accepting credit cards directly . So in case you don't have OPAL card, don't worry about it. Just touch your credit card to get into the train station.
